General Questions

Are movie theaters open?
Yes they are.  Movie theaters can be open for normal operation but with limitations to seating capacity and enhanced cleaning and sanitizing measures in place.
Can I bring my own snacks or drinks to the show?

Bringing in outside food or drink is prohibited.  Concession sales are important for the theater to continue operations and we have made every effort to offer quality concessions at a reasonable price.  Many of our concession items are half the price of those offered by larger theater chains.  If you have specific requests or ideas for other concession offerings please let use know.

Can I reserve a theater for a birthday or event?

Yes.  We offer a special room rental package that is perfect for birthdays or small group events.  Our package includes the use of our equipment, extra time to setup and take down your event,  Click to view review our groups and events page.  Call or email for details.

Do I need to social distance in the theater?

We are following the recommended guidelines put out by the NYS development corporation and the CDC for covid prevention.   The general recommendation is to keep two seats between families or groups and to keep theaters at 50% capacity or less.  Our smallest theater seats 125 and so we will always be well below capacity with plenty of space for social distancing.

Do I need to wear a mask?

We recommend following all CDC and state guidelines.

Do you offer hearing assistance?

We have the ability to enable closed captioning on the screen.  We do not currently have individual hearing assistance.  We are currently looking into adding this feature and will update this question when it becomes available.

R-Rated Movie Policy

At Crown City Cinemas we strive to provide a safe environment where everyone can see the movies they love.  We adhere strictly to the guidelines below and we may require proof of age as well as deny entry to films if we suspect these guidelines are not being followed.

MPAA guideline for R-rated Movies: Under 17 Requires Accompanying Parent or Adult Guardian.

This rating means the film may contain adult material such as adult activity, harsh language, intense graphic violence, drug abuse and nudity.

  • An adult guardian is defined as a legal guardian 21 years of age or older that is responsible for the minor during the time of the R-rated movie.
  • You must be 17 years or older to purchase a ticket for an R-rated movie.
  • You must be 21 years old or older to purchase tickets to an R-rated movie for others.
  • Anyone under 17 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian 21 years old or older throughout the entire movie.
  • Anyone with a pre-sale/online sale ticket for an R-rated movie may be asked to show I.D. before admittance.
  • Children 6 and under are not permitted to attend R-rated movies in the evening (7 pm and 9 pm showtimes) at Crown City Cinemas.

Private Screening and Events

Can I choose a different movie for my group than what is being offered?

We can offer a conventional private screening where you choose a film to show your group.  Please call or email us for more information as there are longer lead times and higher minimum ticket counts for this option.

How do I pay for a private screening?

Private screenings can be paid for when you arrive for the show.  Tickets can be purchase individually by each member of the group, or they can all be purchased at once in one transaction.  We accept cash, Visa, Master, Discover as well as Apple or Google mobile payments.

What if I have less than 10 people?

You need to purchase at least 10 tickets at $10 each to have a private screening.   While we would prefer you bring 10 or more people, as long as you pay the $100 you can schedule a screening.

What if I need to cancel my reservation?

There are currently not any penalties for canceling or rescheduling a reservation.  We would ask that you give 24-48 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule as we plan our staffing around the scheduled shows reservations.

Will other groups be in the same theater as my group?

No.  When you schedule to see a movie your group will have the entire theater to yourselves.  Each theater has its own HVAC system and we follow CDC and local guidelines for cleaning and sanitizing our facility.
